Lending
a Hand to Our Schools
This
is it! The day we rally the community to
support Inland Empire United Way's Hands On
Inland Empire in order to support local
schools, nonprofits and hundreds of HOIE projects
year round.
How
do we do this? Through service!
On June 9th,
hundreds of volunteers will gather at multiple
project sites in Redlands, Yucaipa and Apple Valley
and through the support of our sponsors and friends who recognize the value of what you
do for the community we'll gather the resources we
need to continue to paint, plant, buy books for
kids, make arts and crafts projects with seniors,
socialize animals, feed the hungry, build local
parks and much much more!
If
you're interested in helping raise some dollars for
the cause, give us a call. We are always looking for
project sponsors as well as in-kind donors of paint,
brushes, plants, gardening tools and even food for
our events! Be sure to
sign up for one of
this year's projects below. Uncomfortable raising
money? Don't hesitate to sign up for a project
anyway! We welcome all volunteers.
Hurry! Each project has a limited amount of
space. Sign up today!
This
year's projects
Redlands
- Victoria Elementary School:
Our
focus at Victoria will be on creating new exercise
spaces to promote health and fitness. We'll be
painting a large "peaceful playgrounds" layout on
the blacktop, building a running track, and
renovating a garden to broaden outdoor activities.
Additionally, we'll be painting buildings and
creating vivid murals to illustrate the school's PeaceBuilders program.

School.
Yucaipa - 9th Grade Campus:
This
Yucaipa campus is crying out for landscaping and
some brightening touches. We'll be painting and
planting the front of the school grounds as well as creating
a large mural in the inner courtyard to illustrate
the many changes the school has seen over the years.

Campus.

Apple Valley - Community Auditorium and Shelter at
Saint Mary's Regional Catholic School:
This
project site coordinated by Desert Communities
United Way.
The auditorium at
Saint Mary's Regional Catholic School is an
important community resource badly in need of repair
and renovation. This auditorium is designated as the
local Red Cross Emergency Shelter and is also the
home of Cub Scout Pack 257, the Knights of Columbus
and the Optimists Club. Volunteers will paint
the auditorium and kitchen and restore the luster of
this community and school meeting place.

All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. All
volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied
by a parent.
