Volunteer with Hands On Inland Empire!
October 2007

Want to Make a Difference in a Child's Life?
It's time to

Join us for our newest project on the 2nd Saturday of every month.  Starts November 10th from 9 a.m. - noon.
50 volunteers needed each month!
Imagine a Saturday morning in which instead of sleeping late or watching television, kids are surrounded by fun, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers, and along with their friends and classmates are captivated by a book and developing a passion for reading. "Read to Kids" is Hands On Inland Empire's newest volunteer project -- reading to the kids of Virginia Primrose Elementary School in Fontana.

Your three hours of volunteerism on a Saturday morning can make a life-long difference in the life of a child. Volunteers will read, conduct arts and crafts activities, and deliver prize books to all the kids who participate. Click here for more information and to sign up to read to the grade of your choice.

North Tamarind Neighborhood Project Complete!
Thanks to our Volunteers for another Great Community Event!

It started in August with the North Tamarind Park playground build.  It continued on October 4th with over 50 volunteers from The Home Depot renovating the North Tamarind Elementary school garden, preparing the playground surface, and building storage cupboards, shelves, backpack hooks and ball boxes.  On October 6th an additional 250+ volunteers picked up paint brushes and painted over a dozen new murals, playground games and curbs, goalposts, basketball backboards and picnic tables, completely transforming the school into a vibrant splash of color!

Thanks to all our volunteers, sponsors and the Points of Light & Hands On Network for supporting us as we finished our transformation of the North Tamarind Neighborhood! Special thanks to the great teams from The Home Depot, Circuit City, Kaiser Permanente, North Tamarind Cougar Pride, Claremont Colleges Circle K, San Bernardino Bridges Program, Helping Hands Fontana High School, UCR Circle K, Starbucks, and Schneider National.
